At North Polk Elementary, we believe that education is a collaborative process involving the home, school, and community that results in accelerated and developmentally appropriate learning for all students.
It is the philosophy of the staff of North Polk Elementary that we shall provide each child with a developmentally appropriate learning environment filled with opportunities to maximize his/her potential. We shall evaluate each student and develop an academic program to meet his/her individual needs. This program shall lead each student to think critically and creatively; to become proficient in problem solving; to learn to work well with others; and to expand his/her skills in listening, speaking, reading, writing, and calculating.
As each student develops and becomes more competent under the careful guidance of the instructional staff, the student will use these skills to make personal evaluations and cope with his/her abilities, talents, limitations, and challenges.
The faculty and staff at North Polk Elementary believe the following:
Each child should be provided with a developmentally appropriate learning environment in order that they reach their maximum potential.
Instructional programs should be developed to meet the academic needs of each child.
Academic programs should lead each student to think critically and creatively, become proficient in problem solving, work well with others, and expand skills in all core areas.
Each student should be given guidance in making personal evaluations in coping with his/her ability, talents, limitations, and challenges.
